Many of the most common issues that arise when using LibreOffice Portable are addressed here. Interesting though it may be, it does not happen today. If the issue also exists with LibreOffice and "remote storage" (saving directly to OneDrive), this has a greater potential for error. Working on the file from the cloud based Word app is perhaps the most likely culprit. It still happens to separate copies of the file (cloud sync is a "copy/restore" operation) so the file integrity should be maintained. Lockfiles will not be synchonized to cloud storage, so if you share a file with others, or work on the synchonized file from a different station, and the two are open concurrently, I suspect that bad things may happen. The lockfile will do its thing on that computer, restricting concurrent access. With OpenOffice you are working against local storage, a synchonized folder where the lockfiles are created without problem. It may be a cause in very special situations. Could that be a reason why we see so many destroyed files from Windows systems? Is your computer updated? Sometimes with pending updates, some functionality is blocked.File - Open from inside an OpenOffice app.Internet connection is required for this. If you see a cloud status icon on the file entry, it means "files on demand" is activated, which will download the file when you request it.If OneDrive sync is running, do you have internet access so files are actually available?.Do you have the OneDrive sync installed and activated, or do you need to open a web browser to view your files?.That may resolve the issue, should it represent a problem for you. I haven't tried LibreOffice's remote storage option which Zizi64 mentions. As long as concurrent access to the cloud content is not required, this is not an issue. The warnings go away as soon as I close the files. The only "disturbance" is that the lockfiles have characters in the filename which are not allowed in the cloud service, so I get warnings about unsynchronized files. I have little trouble using OneDrive with OpenOffice/LibreOffice.
